Mongolian Tourism Association (MTA). The company was founded in 1992. The MTA acts as an umbrella organization for the tourism industry in Mongolia. 255 registered members
* Member tour operators handle 80% of the leisure tourists.
* Member tour camps provide service to 90% of the leisure tourists.
* Tourism Camp Association, Hotel Association, Mongolian Tour Guide Association, Tourism Teachers Association
* Hotels, restaurants, insurance, fashions salons, airline and railway.
As such the MTA aims to:
a. Protect the intersts and rights of its memdbers according to the law.
b. Increase the professionalism of the personnel of member organizations.
c. Increase the level of service offered by member organizations
d. Increase the number of tourists to Mongolia and increasing the yield of each tourist. To strengthen the Mongolian economy. The long-term goal of the MTA is to strive to be successful like international tourism bodies such the Japanese Association of Travel Agents (JATA) and the Korean Tourism Association (KTA). Additionally, the MTA aims to increase the reputation and influence of the company both within Mongolia and abroad. The main role of the MTA is to provide service to its members and support them with their activities. Some of the activities include:
• Assisting tour operators in exhibiting in international trade events. The MTA currently exhibits at the following shows:
1. ITB, Berlin. In 2011, 2012, 2013 Mongolia was the ‘Cultural Partner Country’ to promote the country as a tourist destination to the European market. The Mongolian government invested over 500 million tugrik for this promotion; the first time in Mongolian tourism history that this amount of money has been invested in the industry.
2. KOTFA, Seoul. In June 2011, 2012 the MTA attended KOTFA and received the award for Best Tourism Publicity, The Best Tourism Marketing Award.
